earthquake update

Please dedicate your practice and prayers to the people of Nepal, Tibet, China and India who are suffering due to the recent earthquake in Nepal.

Rinpoche, his family, the monks and staff were not injured during the initial earthquake or aftershocks. The main building of the monastery which includes the shrine hall and Rinpoche’s living quarters, was heavily damaged and is closed. The secondary buildings, including the monks’ living quarters, do not appear to be damaged.

The monastery is closed to visitors at this time. In addition, the Chod empowerment, which was scheduled for May 6th, has been cancelled.

We will post new information as we have it.

visiting hours for rinpoche in boudha

Rinpoche is in residence at his monastery and is seeing visitors.  Visiting hours are 8:30AM – 11:30AM. The front gate will be locked at 11:00AM, so please be there before that time if you would like to meet with Rinpoche.

Rinpoche asks that people visit only during these hours so his family and the staff can properly attend to their other duties.

While RInpoche sees visitors almost every day of the week, he sometimes has other commitments that take him away from the monastery. If you find the monastery gate locked during visiting hours, please come back another day.
